Hebrews 2:10-18:

  1. Vs. 10 - Jesus made perfect in suffering:

     a) Jesus who was sinless, died for all of our sins (2 Corinthians 5:21).

     b) Jesus knew what He had to give up in order to save us (Luke 24:26-27).

     c) Jesus suffered for us to obey God. When He obeyed God, He was perfected and made us righteous (Romans 5:18-19).

  2. Vs. 11 - Jesus is the one source for being sanctified or set apart:

     a) Jesus died for us "while we were still sinners."  He set us apart and justified us with His blood (Romans 5:6-11).

     b) Jesus set us apart and made us His own (Philippians 3:12).

  3. Vs. 17 - Jesus had to become flesh and blood in order to:

     a) Destroy the one who has the power of death (Vs. 14).

     b) Deliver those who fear death and were subject to slavery (Vs. 15).

     c) Make propitiation for our sins (to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sins) (Vs. 17).

  4. Vs. 18 - Thus, He himself has suffered, so when people are tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted:

     a) 1 Corinthians 10:12-14.
